Unemployment rate – 4.9pc in October

The unemployment rate in October was of 4.9%, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informed on Wednesday.

The number of unemployed (aged 15-74) estimated for October was of 451,000, up against the previous month (442,000), down as compared to October 2016 (496,000).

By gender, the unemployment rate for men was higher by 1.9 percentage points against the women (5.7% against 3.8%).

For adult persons (25-74) the estimated unemployment rate was of 4% in October 2017 (4.8% for men and 2.9% for women). The number of unemployed aged 25-74 represented 75.9% of the overall number of unemployed estimated in October.
