Unemployment rate, down to 3.81pc in March

The national unemployment rate, calculated by the National Employment Agency, was of 3.81% at the end of March, down by 0.13 percentage points as compared to the previous month and below the level recorded at the end of the same month in 2017 by 0.76 percentage points, ANOFM informs.

As compared to February this year, the men unemployment rate declined from 4.19% to 4.04% and the women unemployment rate dropped from 3.64% to 3.53%.

By residence, 94,579 unemployed are in urban areas and 238,151 unemployed people live in rural areas.

Most unemployed people were 40-49 years old (100,641 persons), followed by those aged 30-39 years (66,479), at the opposite side being those aged 25-29 (21,243).

The unemployed without education and those with primary education have the highest share in the total number of unemployed registered by the ANOFM (35.44%). The unemployed with gymnasium level represent 32.49% of the total registered unemployed, and those with university studies have a 4.61% share.
