Unemployment rate down to 3.9% in January
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.9% in January 2019, down from 4% in the previous month, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs.
The unemployed aged 15-74 was estimated in January to 354,000 persons, down against the previous month (359,000) and against the same month in the previous year (403,000).
By gender, the unemployment rate for men was by 0.8 percentage points higher than for women (4.2% against 3.4%).
For adult persons aged 25-74, the estimated unemployment rate was estimated to 3% in January (3.4% for men and 2.4% for women), i.e. 71% of the overall number of unemployed in January 2019.
