Unemployment rate down to 3.9% in May
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.9% in May 2019, down by 0.1 percentage points against the previous month (4%), according to the National Statistics Institute (INS) on Monday.
The number of unemployed (aged 15-74) estimated in May 2019 was 351,000 individuals, down against the previous month (354,000) and against the same month of the previous year (390,000).
By gender, the men unemployment rate exceeded by 0.9 percentage points that of women (the respective values being 4.3% for men and 3.4% for women).
For adults (aged 25-74 years), the unemployment rate was estimated at 3.1% in May (3.4% for men and 2.5% for women).
The number of unemployed aged 25-74 represented 72.3% of the total number of unemployed estimated in May.
