US Dollar and Swiss Franc – lowest levels against RON in two and a half years
The European currency has remained stable on Wednesday against the national currency, whereas the US Dollar and the Swiss Franc have reached the lowest levels in two years and a half.
The National Bank (BNR) has announced a reference exchange rate of RON 4.5586/EUR 1, up by 0.02% against the previous day. The USD has an exchange rate below RON 3.85 and the CHF below RON 3.97, the lowest levels since January 2015.
“RON remains the only currency in Central and Eastern Europe registering depreciation against the EUR, which leads us to expect that the EUR/RON exchange rate will gradually decrease in the coming period,” a report issued by a bank in Romania reads.
The US Dollar, quoted on the Romanian market by mirroring the EUR/USD parity, has depreciated to RON 3.8569/USD 1, the lowest level since January 14, 2015.
The Swiss Franc has also continued depreciation, being quoted by BNR at RON 3.9474/CHF 1, down against the previous session of RON 3.9976/CHF 1. The exchange rate on Wednesday is also the lowest since January 14, 2015.
