WB to provide support for Ploiesti-Brasov highway financing

Romanian Finance Minister Ionut Misa met with World Bank Vice President Cyril Muller, at Washington, and discussed the funding opportunities for Ploiesti-Brasov highway.

“The international financing institution has declared its support, and will begin the first technical mission on October 30,” FinMin announced on Wednesday.

Ionut Misa attended the Annual Meeting of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, during October 11 – 16, an event that Romania has been participating since 1972.

Another important point of the discussion was “the active involvement of BM specialists, together with other international financial institutions, regarding the 8 regional hospitals that the Romanian authorities consider to be a priority for citizens”.

In turn, the recently appointed minister delegate for European funds, Marius Nica, stated at the beginning of the Government meeting on Wednesday that the World Bank agreed to manage together with the Romanian authorities the construction of the Ploiesti-Brasov highway.

At the same time, Nica proposed to Prime Minister Mihai Tudose to have a meeting with the directors of the European funds management authorities in order to boost the absorption process, with the head of the government accepting it.
