PM Ludovic Orban has announced on Thursday that the technical unemployment for public employees will not longer be enforced as Romania gets closer to the end of the state of emergency and measures to relax the lockdown will start on May 15.

Because great part of those working in the public institutions are involved in the frontline of the battle, like the case of the Health Ministry. You cannot give up anyone in this sector, on the contrary, we need more additional specialists. The same goes for the Defence and Interior ministries, but also for the Labour Ministry that is involved in running support programmes related to the technical unemployment and other forms of support for other professional categories. So, a great part of the public sector is very involved in this process,” PM Orban explained.
