Romanian state nuclear power producer Nuclearelectrica (SNN), which operates the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, has planned investments of RON 1.8 billion by 2020 from its own sources, of which the investment budget for this year stands at RON 515.25 million, according to the documents approved by shareholders and published on the company’s website.
The investments planned for next year amount to RON 642.3 million, while the proposed investment budget for 2020 amounts to RON 661.55 million.
The amounts are for both the two reactors in Cernavoda and the company’s HQ.
During the three years, about RON 170 million will be allocated for studies on extending the life of Unit 1 by upgrading the the atomic pile and the retechnologization of the main systems. Studies must be completed by 2021.
Also, more than RON 52 million will be directed to continue the construction of an intermediary storage facility of burned fuel, which will be completed in several stages until 2047.
For the upgrade and expansion of the physical protection system, Nuclearelectrica will invest over RON 100 million in the next three years.
Another RON 92 million will be invested in improving the reaction of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, respectively of the nuclear safety functions.
