Orange Romania announces the launch of a new call for projects within its acceleration program, Orange Fab. Under the motto “Bring the Start. We bring the Up,” Orange Fab reaffirms its commitment to supporting innovative startups and contributing to the growth of the Romanian startup ecosystem.
In this new call for projects, Orange Fab aims to identify at least six startups to join the acceleration program over the next 12 months, with the goal of developing pilot projects together and eventually integrating them into business solutions. Interested startups can apply on the Orange Fab website until October 1st, with the evaluation and validation of applicants taking place from October 2nd to 18th.
One of the program’s priorities is to support startups with AI-based solutions that address three strategically important areas for the Orange Group: cybersecurity, telecommunications networks, and customer experience.
The Orange Fab program is looking for startups developing solutions focused on its ten verticals: Networks of the Future, Smart Retail, IoT & Connected Objects, Security, Media & Entertainment, Sustainability, Smart City & Mobility, Digital Education, People & Future of Work, and Health & Lifestyle.
To be eligible, interested startups must meet the following criteria:
- Have a solution that uses AI and addresses one of the business verticals of the Orange Fab program
- Have a viable product (MVP) tested with customers
- It is a plus to have paying customers and recurring revenue
- The company must be registered in Romania
The Orange Fab accelerator, conducted nationwide, aims to collaborate with both mature startups and early-stage startups with high scaling potential by offering resources, mentorship, and collaboration opportunities with Orange teams and partners. The goal is to foster innovation and streamline the launch of new products and services to market. Additionally, Orange Fab Romania serves as a launchpad for scaling across the entire Orange customer network and into markets in Europe and Africa where the Orange Group operates.
Winning startups will join the Orange Fab acceleration program, gaining access to Orange’s 5G labs in Bucharest and Iași, as well as benefits such as:
- Access to a free, equity-free program based on a business partnership
- Support for developing Proof of Concept projects and promoting them to Orange’s B2B customers
- Mentorship in technology and business from Orange experts
- Access to resources and technology to develop their solutions
- Opportunities for collaboration in Horizon Europe research projects
- Visibility, promotion, and exposure to new clients
- Collaboration opportunities with the Orange Group through the international Orange Fab network
- Access to international events/conferences such as Mobile World Congress 2025, Vivatech 2025, GITEX Africa 2025
During the evaluation and validation phase, the following selection criteria will be considered:
- Degree of innovation and market potential
- Potential for collaboration with Orange (to meet internal needs or complement existing customer offerings)
- Team structure and competencies
Since 2017, 50 startups have joined the Orange Fab program, which has consistently expanded its areas of activity over the past seven years to better meet the business needs of its clients. To date, Orange Fab has purchased products and services worth 2.2 million euros from startups in the program, implementing over 90 projects in collaboration with them.
