57 percent of urban Romanians have heard about cryptocurrencies, the most known being Bitcoin (54 percent), Bitcoin Cash (19 percent), Ethereum (11 percent), Litecoin (10 percent) and Ethereum Classic (7 percent), study shows.
Also, 17 percent of Romanians in the urban area intend to buy crypto money in the next 12 months, while 30 percent believe that virtual coins represent the future of means of payment.
”Our study confirms that Romanians have become familiar with the ’cryptocurrency’ term, they want to keep up with the new trends and take advantage of the opportunities generated by the new technologies. Cryptocurrencies remain a sensitive issue in the context of a very low regulatory level of this market and numerous global warnings,” Traian Nastase, Managing Partner, iSense Solutions, stated.
Survey also shows that only 8 percent of Romanians using internet have bought crypto money in the last 12 months.
At the same time, people under 40 are more enthusiastic about cryptocurrencies. Thus, 61 percent (vs. 52 percent of the total) of young people familiar with this term believe that digital coins represent the future, 44 percent (vs. 35 percent of the total) trust them and 50 percent (vs. 44 percent) would like to be able to pay using them and 22 percent of people under the age of 40 intend to buy at least one cryptocurrency in the next 12 months.
