Paralela 45 travel agency, which celebrates 30 years of activity in 2020 and which has served 1.8 million tourists all these years, reached a turnover of EUR 70 million at the end of 2019, estimating a 12-15pc growth this year.
“We had 2,000 tourists in our first year of existence, and there were 12 times more last year,” said Alin Burcea, CEO Paralela 45.
The travel agency boasts over 600 charter flights per year, over 160 tourist and historical tours to all continents, 45 tour guides and over 50 agencies countrywide, with three more travel offices being opened last year.
One of the most valuable investments of the agency has been the online sales that represent 7 pc of the total. According to Alin Burcea, the tour operator forecasts EUR 5 million online sales this year.
Some destinations have made history throughout these past three decades, such as Antalya. Tourists will be able to fly to Antalya from three more Romanian cities as of this year: Constanta, Craiova and Satu Mare.
Other new flights starting 2020 are from Cluj-Napoca to Bodrum, from Târgu Mureș and Oradea to Crete – Heraklion and from Bucharest to Mykonos.
There are also new flights from Cluj to Tunisia and from Cluj, Timisoara and Iasi to Egypt, Hurghada.
However, other famous destinations such as Egypt ((Sharm el Sheikhi and Hurghada) and Tunisia are well in the ranking, with the last 2019 season luring over 7,500 Romanian tourists to these countries. Paralela 45’s customers will be also to choose this year such tourist spots as Spain (Costa Blanca, Costa Brava, Costa del Sol, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife), Italy (Amalfi Coast, Ischia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany), Cyprus, Portugal (Cascais and Estoril), Mauritius, Maldives, Seychelles, Indonesia, or the United Arab Emirates.
On the other hand, tours are at the core of Paralela 45 business. Tourists can choose from a range of 160 trips to all continents, from North America to Australia and New Zealand, from Africa to Iceland and Faeroe Islands.
Tours by plane “take off” from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, Sibiu and Budapest. As a novelty in 2020, some cruises on the Greek Islands and Turkey have been added on the portfolio, as well to China (Tibet and Yangtze), Japan and South Korea, Namibia, Senegal, USA(Miami), Alaska and Yukon, New Zealand etc.
“We aimed a healthy growth and content clients whom we can permanently provide new destinations. We are investing in developing tourist programme, in technology and in the human resources. We were two when we hit the road at the end of 1990, now we are a team of over 280”, said CEO Paralela 45.
