Corint Pipeworks, a Greek company, is set to produce a 160 km pipeline for transporting natural gas from the Neptun Deep offshore area to the shore, according to Greek media. The steel pipe division of Corinth Pipeworks, as a subcontractor for Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited, has secured a contract worth between 100 and 150 million euros to supply approximately 160 km of submerged arc straight-seam welded steel pipes for the development of a natural gas subsea pipeline for OMV Petrom’s Neptun Deep project in the Black Sea.

The 30-inch pipeline will be manufactured at Corinth Pipeworks facilities in Greece and will include an external anti-corrosion system and internal lining applied at the same location.

We are extremely excited to take on this major project from Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited, a trusted partner of OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy company in South and East Europe,” said Ilias Bekiros, CEO of Corinth Pipeworks.

The Neptun Deep block in the Black Sea covers an area of 7,500 square kilometers and is located approximately 160 kilometers off the coast of Romania at depths of up to 1,000 meters. Neptun Deep is the largest natural gas project in the Black Sea in Romania and the country’s first deep-sea underwater project, as highlighted by the Greek media.
