Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu claims that Romania is in the spotlight of large American investment funds. Next week, I will discuss with the heads of large American investment funds, interested in our country. There are clear signals that the strategic partnership with the United States is entering the new economic dimension agreed with President Trump at the end of last year,” Ciolacu said at the beginning of the Government meeting on Friday.

According to government sources, representatives of JP Morgan and the World Bank will come to Romania next week. JP Morgan will come with four investment funds. JP Morgan is one of the largest and oldest financial institutions in the world.

“I am glad that yesterday, a foreign concern announced the relocation of its factory from Bulgaria to Romania. Every investor gained is essential for the economy”, the prime minister also said.

The Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever is closing the Denny’s ice cream factory in Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgaria), 7 years after buying it, with the possibility that production will be moved to Romania, to Suceava, according to Economica.net.

Budget draft on Saturday

The Prime Minister stated that during Friday’s meeting, all preliminary procedures will be finalized to adopt the 2025 budget on Saturday, in a special Government meeting.

“The news of the finalization of the budget draft had immediate effects yesterday. The interest rate at which Romania borrows abroad, for 10 years, has dropped rapidly. Other positive effects will follow,” said Ciolacu.
I will not go into the details of the budget today, I draw attention to a single figure, that of exports, which is growing by over 3% this year. This will be the first major impact of our full integration into the Schengen area. Another important effect is that we had a January with good weather, which allowed builders to work intensively on construction sites, especially on highways. The Transport Budget is increasing by 20% this year, and thus we are certain that there will be lots completed this very spring,” the prime minister added.
