PM: Romania can provide its own gas demand this winter


Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Wednesday that no matters what happens to gas imports supply from Russia, Romania can provide its own gas demand for population and for emergencies this winter.

“We hope there will be no problems with the import gas for economic activities operations, but I want to assure that, no matter what happens and what political or pseudo-political decisions Eastern Europe takes, we have the gas demand for the population this winter,” PM Ponta said during the Government weekly session.

In his turn, Delegate Minister for Energy Razvan Nicolescu confirmed that there were some problems related to Russia’ s gas supplying for the past days, but the gas volume had increased on Wednesday. Nicolescu also said he approached this issue during a meeting with EC officials in Brussels on Tuesday.
