CVI private debt investor continues its investment activity in Romania, with a number of new projects in the pipeline and an appetite for providing further financing to local SMEs in 2020 and beyond. With the beginning of the new year, Magdalena Śniegocka takes over the responsibility for CVI’s investments in Romania, replacing Ciprian Nicolae, who led origination and managed CVI’s activity in Romania between 2017 and 2019.

Ciprian Nicolae established CVI’s presence on the Romanian market, executing a number of transactions such as debt financing to Impact SA (a residential developer listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange), One United Properties (high-end real estate developer), and Aaylex Group (the poultry producer behind the CocoRico brand).  Between 2017 and 2019, CVI analyzed more than 100 projects in Romania and invested approximately EUR 60 million in debt instruments issued by Romanian companies.

“Romania’s robust economy has been on a continuous rise for the past years, proving its significance in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. In 2020, the Romanian GDP is expected to grow at 4.1% to EUR 212 billion, continuing its impressive performance and thus offering unique investment opportunities for local and foreign funds. Being present in Romania since 2017, we are well equipped to continue supporting Romanian SMEs on their growth path” said Rafał Lis, Founder and Managing Partner of CVI.

“It is our mission in Romania to be the partner of choice for local entrepreneurs, supporting them with flexible private debt financing solutions. Our investments range from EUR 2 to 20 million per transaction and address a variety of financing needs, including working capital, capital expenditure, M&A activity or shareholder buyouts,” declared Magdalena Śniegocka, CVI’s Investment Director, responsible for origination, execution and oversight of deals on the Romanian market.

Magdalena Śniegocka joined CVI in February 2018 as an Investment Director and Member of the Investment Committee. In her professional career, Magdalena led or participated in over USD 12 billion worth of investments and capital raising transactions as well as supervised multiple portfolio companies. She started her career in London in Acquisition & Leveraged Finance at Lehman Brothers and Nomura. She then led Corporate Finance for Kulczyk Investments, a Polish private investment company with over USD 4 billion in AUM.

CVI is a private debt manager, based in Warsaw, Poland active across Central and Eastern Europe. CVI started its operations in 2012 and is currently the leader in non-bank private debt financing in the CEE region.
