The tax revenue body has released the list of the natural persons who had debts to the state budget on March 31. The debtors’ ranking is topped by the Bucharest District 3 mayor, Robert Negoita and by former Bucharest District 5 mayor Marian Vanghelie. The list includes the people who have debts higher than RON 15,000, while the two politicians have even higher debts.
Robert Negoita has to pay over RON 238 million to the state, while Marina Vanghelie has a debt of almost RON 140,000. However, in Negoita’s case, the debts have accumulated over the years, as he ranked first on the debtors list last year as well.
Overall, there are 11,000 natural persons with debts to the state higher than RON 15,000.
Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici has recently said that total debts mounted to around RON 15 billion, in the past 5 years only. In order to recover the money, the state considers granting debtors a discount if they pay their debts by the end of the year.
