Germany-based car part manufacturer Preh GmbH will open next week a representative office in Iasi city (eastern Romania), with over 50 employees, local media informs.
Automotive supplier has already rented offices in Iasi, being in the furnishings period. Moreover, an electric car charging station is set to be launched. On medium term, the company plans to open here a production facility.
Established in 1919, Preh is a German automotive supplier for Porsche, Daimler, Audi or BMW, with presence in several countries, including Romania (at Ghimbav, Brasov county).
As of 2011, Joyson Investment Holding Ningbo (China) became major shareholder of the Germany-based supplier of vehicle interior control systems, sensor systems, electronic control units and assembly systems.
With global sales of EUR 763 million and 4,900 employees last year, Preh has factories in Germany, Portugal, Mexico, USA, China and Romania.
As regards the plant in Brasov, Preh opened it in 2009, where is producing car parts for wheels and regulation systems for air conditioning, especially for German car producers – BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi, Daimler, as well as Skoda and Seat.
For this year, the company expects a total turnover of EUR 137 million, up 2 percent from last year and forecasts to exceed the 1,000 employees threshold at the plant in Ghimbav.
