RCS&RDS, electricity supplier for MoD, following a contract of over RON 8.5 M

Romanian operator RCS&RDS won a new contract to supply electricity for public institutions since it became a player in the electricity. After the recent deal with National Television Broadcasting Company (SRTV), RCS&RDS signed a contract with the Ministry of National Defence (MoD) to supply electricity during May 1, 2016 – April 30, 2017 period.

The telecom operator will receive RON 8.55 million, without VAT, from an estimated amount of RON 9.4 million, without VAT. The beneficiary of the contract, which was assigned in April, is a military unit in Otopeni, near capital Bucharest.

At the auction, another 10 power suppliers have submitted bids. The award notice, which was not preceded by a tender one, does not provide details about the name of the other bidders.

According www.e-licitatie.ro, RCS&RDS won over 30 contracts for electricity supplying since the beginning of the year, National Archives, Romsilva (Arges Forestry Department), Apa Canal 2000 being among clients. Last year, National Bank of Romania (BNR) and State Protocol Administration (RA-APPS) joined the RCS&RDS portfolio.

RCS & RDS has been authorized by National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE) as provider of electricity in April 2013 and as of December 2014 the telecom operator become a trader on OPCOM platform.

The operator owns several companies operating photovoltaic parks.

Last year, the company registered a turnover of RON 2.69 billion, from RON 2.31 billion in the previous year, while losses fell from RON 71 million to RON 22.9 million.
