Record air traffic for the Bucharest airports in 2016 – almost 11 million passengers

Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) registered in 2016, on Bucharest ‘Henri Coanda’ International Airport (Otopeni) and Bucharest – Baneasa ‘Aurel Vlaicu’ International Airport, a record of 10,99  million passengers and 120,700 aircraft movements (landings and take offs), a press release informs.

Of the total, 10.98 million passengers and 108,200 aircraft movements were recorded on the main airport in the Capital.

As compared to 2015, the number of passengers who transited Bucharest airports in 2016 recorded a relevant increase of 18.3 percent.

The evolution of the passengers’ number on Bucharest Airports National Company’s two airports exceeds the European general trend, the release reads. Furthermore, the number of aircraft movements also increased significantly on Bucharest airports, going beyond the European trend once more.

Thereby, the number of aircraft movements on Bucharest airports in 2016 increased by almost 11.2 percent in a year-on-year comparison.

Last year, 85 percent of the ‘Henri Coanda’ Airport passengers headed for European Union airports. At the same time, 37 airlines operated on Bucharest ‘Henri Coanda’ International Airport in 2016, carrying passengers to 92 destinations.
