Renault announced a split in 2022 to become more efficient, and now the French group says that HORSE, the company that will produce thermal and hybrid engines, is starting to operate. Part of the activities from Dacia will be transferred to Horse, a company where Renault is a shareholder, Geely and Aramco.
Some of the Dacia employees from Mioveni were transferred to the new Horse company.
The new company, whose headquarters are in Madrid (Spain), has 9,000 employees (former Renault Group employees), working in 8 plants with a production capacity of 3.2 million units annually. It also has 3 R&D centers, with a presence in 7 countries (Romania, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, Spain and Turkey), says Renault.
The Horse, Geely and Aurobay plants will together have the capacity to produce more than 5 million engines and transmission systems annually. The new company will have a turnover of over 15 billion Euros and will have 19,000 employees (of which 9,000 from HORSE).
Globally, it will have 22 production sites (Geely and Aurobay plants in China and Sweden) and Renault Group / HORSE plants and R&D centers (in Romania, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and South America).
On July 1, Horse began activities in the field of development, production and supply of the next generation of thermal and hybrid propulsion systems with low carbon emissions.
Horse will be a global supplier of propulsion systems, developing low-carbon technologies. The new company will be a supplier for Renault, Dacia, but also Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors Company.
In the future, HORSE will be able to offer powertrain technologies to other automotive companies, the company says. HORSE propulsion systems will be able to integrate all existing or alternative types of fuels or energy sources (e-fuel, hydrogen LPG, CNG, ethanol, etc.).
