Retail trade turnover up by 6.4pc in 7 months

The retail trade turnover (excluding the trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles), as gross series, in the first seven months of 2018, increased by 6.4% against the similar period of 2017, due to the increase in sales of non-food products (+6.9%), sales of foodstuff, beverages and tobacco (+6.9%) and retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores (+3.9%), according to figures released on Tuesday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

As series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality, the retail trade turnover increased by 7.1%.

In July 2018, against July 2017, the retail trade turnover, as gross series, increased by 5.3% and as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality by 5%.
