Romania exported, in the first ten months of 2016, iron and steel worth EUR 1.424 billion, down by 13.3 percent compared to the same period of 2015, according to data centralized by the National Institute for Statistics (INS).
At the same time, the imports of iron and steel stood at EUR 2.054 billion, being 8.9 percent smaller, comparative to those in the January – October 2015 period, a deficit of EUR 630 million on this segment.
According to data of the Economy Ministry, the total value of the international trade of Romania, in the first ten months of 2016, amounted to EUR 103.43 billion, a 5.4 percent increase over the first ten months of 2015, exports increasing to EUR 47.767 billion (+4.1 percent,), while imports grew to EUR 55.67 billion (+6.4 percent).
In these conditions, Romania’s commercial balance deficit grew by 23.2 percent, from the level of EUR 6.414 billion (as of October 31, 2015), to EUR 7.904 billion (as of October 31, 2016).
