Romania is the world leader on the videochat market, this industry has tripled its profits in the past year.
According to the official data released Monday by the players in the industry, the annual turnover reached EUR 100 million.
“The last three years have been a boom in the videochat market in Romania. In just one year, the turnovers, but also the profits of the big players in the market tripled over the previous year. In fact, our country is (…) also an important contributor to the state budget. (…) Worldwide, it’s estimated that the revenue from this business amounts to EUR 2 billion annually,” a press release reads.
Currently, there are 3,000 videochat studios in Romania, where 100,000 models are employed.
According to statistics, 5 percent of internet users, meaning more than 150 million persons, use videochat services, and most of them are based in North America.
One of the most important platforms is also one of the most visited sites in the world, with 20 million subscribers and 35-40 million clicks every day.
