Car sales in Romania increased by 10.2% in H1 2016, the sales volume reached 61,151 units, while most purchases were made by legal entities, i.e. 79% of total buyers, according to data released on Monday by the Association of Automotive Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).
National production during January-June 2016 reached 201,274 cars, by 5.3% fewer than in the same period of 2015, but by 15.7% higher against May this year. Of these, 178,017 units were produced by Dacia and 23,257 units were produced by Ford.
In this context, the largest sales were registered by Dacia Duster – 103,473 units (19.9% more against H1 2015), followed by Sandero (31,122 units, -6 7%), Ford B-MAX (23,257 units, -11.7%), Dacia Logan MCV (22,560 units, +6.7%) and Logan (20,862 units, -53.3%).
Exports in H1 peaked to 182,097 units, down by 5.3% as compared to the same period of 2015. The most exported model was Dacia Duster (100,182 units, + 19.8% compared to 2015), followed by Sandero (27,078 units, -7%), Ford B-MAX (23.254 units, -11.7%), Logan MCV (20,382 units, + 0.9%) and Logan (11,201 units, – 66.1%). Basically, 90.5% of the national production was exported, a percentage similar to that of last year.
