The beer market in Romania registered a 2 percent increase in volume during the first seven months of the year, compared to the same period in 2016, according to Brewers of Romania Association data.

The added value the beer sector generates in its related fields of activity amounts to EUR 860 million and the contribution to state and local budgets exceeds EUR 530 million.

”The evolution of the beer market during January – July 2017 was positive but undoubtedly a moderate one. At this point, we believe that the prerequisites for the market to continue its evolution are met, but only the year-end results will confirm or deny the strengthening of this trend. A decisive factor in the positive evolution of the beer market certainly remains to ensure an economic context and a predictable regulatory framework that have allowed the beer market to evolve naturally from last year, relying on the dynamics of supply and demand,” Julia Leferman, General Manager of Brewers of Romania Association stated.

Moreover, statistics show that a Romanian must work 22 minutes to buy a liter of beer, while a German has to work only 8 minutes and a Dutch – 9 minutes.
