Beko Romania, the leader of the local home appliance market, announces the appointment of Marius Mihăilescu as the new CEO for Romania, Moldova, Greece, Malta, and Cyprus, taking over the position on January 1, 2025, from Murat Büyükerk, who concludes his seven-year tenure leading local operations and will pursue new professional opportunities.

In the 7 years spent within Beko Romania, Mr. Murat Büyükerk left a significant mark, guiding the company through a period of transformation and consolidation. With a strategic vision, he managed to build strong connections between the values of the Group to which Beko Romania belongs and the local realities of the Romanian market, reinforcing the orientation towards sustainability and innovation, trust, and collaboration on all levels. His contributions have always been based on the continued success and integration of Beko Romania into a solid and respected global network.

Looking back, I feel honored to have had the opportunity to contribute to Beko’s success in this region, alongside a remarkable team that excels through commitment and professionalism. For me, Romania is a country that I consider home, but at the same time a strategic market for Beko, with extraordinary potential. During my seven years in office, I have been privileged to support the local economy, strengthen ties with local communities, and build strong links between global values and the realities of the local market. My retirement from this role comes with the conviction that Mr. Marius Mihăilescu will carry forward our values. Under his leadership, I am confident that the team will exceed expectations, continuing to set new standards of innovation, sustainability, and positive impact, while inspiring future generations. As for me, I will continue to remain dedicated to this country, embracing a new professional path alongside American Hospital – Koç Health Care Romania and other prestigious companies investing in Romania“, said Mr. Murat Büyükerk, Country Director and Executive Board Member of the American Hospital – Koç Health Care Romania.

In addition to this role, Mr. Murat will also take on positions on the Board of Directors for Eco Sun Niculești and Euromec-Ciocănari (Entek Romania), ARCwaste Romania, as well as an Advisory Board Member for major Turkish investors in Romania such as Trendyol and Kibar Holding.

With over 26 years of leadership experience in renowned multinational companies such as Colgate-Palmolive, Philips, and Indesit, as well as over 9 years within Beko Romania, Mr. Marius Mihăilescu has distinguished himself through his visionary approach, the ability to navigate complex business environments, combining strategic thinking with a deep understanding of the market, consumer and business partners’ needs. In his new role as CEO of 5 countries, he will continue to support the company’s sustainable growth objectives and strengthen its position in the markets he will coordinate.

It is a great honor to take on this responsibility and to continue alongside a team that is for me a true family united by the same fundamental values. Mutual trust, team spirit, and support for one another motivate us to build lasting relationships that impact people and the environment. The success of a team is defined by the mark we leave, the trust we build, and the positive impact that we have on the life quality of all the people we interact with. Together with the teams in the responsible countries, we aim to continue our mission of providing solutions that improve consumers’ lives and create long-term value. Our priorities remain sustainable development and strengthening the company’s position in our markets. I firmly believe that only through collaboration and responsibility we can generate a positive impact that goes beyond the boundaries of the industry, and this vision should guide our efforts in the future”, said Mr. Marius Mihăilescu, CEO Beko Romania, Moldova, Greece, Malta and Cyprus.
