The software market in Romania will exceed 3 percent of GDP and IT will represent over 10 percent of GDP in the coming years, Teodor Blidăruș, President of Employers’ Association of the Software and Services Industry (ANIS) stated on Tuesday.
“The fact that Romanian IT market is growing, it’s well known. That fact that IT segment achieved an increase of over 21 percent late last year, in terms of an increase year on year of over 15 percent on average in recent years, is really a great thing. (…) At end-2015, we exceeded EUR 3 billion and the forecast for next year is that we will exceed EUR 4 billion,” Blidăruș added.
According to him, productivity is increasing in the IT sector in Romania, which shows the Romanians’ appetite to choose value-added services. At the same time, the number of employees in the industry will grow.
“We estimate for 2016 that number of employees will exceed 90,000. If we had 120,000-140,000 employees, everyone would have a job today,” ANIS representative noted.
