Romanian timber exports dropped in 8 mo

Romania exported timber and cork in the first eight months of 2017, amounting to EUR 394.4 million, down by 2.3 percent than in the same period last year, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

At the same time, the wood and cork imports amounted to EUR 149.5 million, down 7.1 percent compared to January-August 2016, thus registering a surplus of about EUR 245 million on this segment.

In the first eight months of 2017, Romania’s FOB exports amounted to EUR 41.039 billion, up 9.6 percent year-on-year, and CIF imports totaled EUR 48.908 billion, up 11.6 percent.
