The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.1% in the second quarter of 2024, compared to the previous quarter, and in the first semester it increased by 0.7% compared to the similar period in 2023, on the gross series, and by 1.5 % on the seasonally adjusted series, according to the signal estimate of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
On the seasonally adjusted series, Gross Domestic Product increased by 0.1% in the second quarter of 2024, compared to the previous quarter. Compared to the same quarter of 2023, GDP increased by 0.8%. In the first semester of 2024, compared to the first semester of 2023, the Gross Domestic Product increased by 1.5%.
On a gross basis, compared to the same quarter in 2023, the Gross Domestic Product, in the second quarter of 2024, registered an increase of 0.8%. In the first semester of 2024, compared to the first semester of 2023, the Gross Domestic Product increased by 0.7%.
“As a result of the revision of the gross series by including the estimate of the Gross Domestic Product for the second quarter of 2024 in the quarterly series, the seasonally adjusted series was recalculated, the volume indices being revised against the second provisional version of the Gross Domestic Product for the first quarter of 2024, published in press release no. 176 of July 8, 2024, as follows: the results of the second quarter of 2023, compared to the first quarter of 2023, were revised from 102.8% to 102.9%; the results of quarter III 2023, compared to quarter II 2023, were not revised (103.5%); the results of quarter IV 2023, compared to quarter III 2023, were not revised (101.1%); the results of the first quarter of 2024, compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, were not revised (102.2%). The seasonally adjusted series are recalculated quarterly in accordance with European practice“, INS mentions in a statement.
