Romania’s intra-community trade deficit increased by 15 pc after nine months

Romania recorded a good trade balance with the European Union (EU). According to Ministry of Economy data released on Monday, intra-community trade deficit increased by 14.9 percent at end-September, compared to the same period of 2014, to almost EUR 5.6 billion.

Total intra-community trade increased by 9.1 percent, to EUR 65.667 billion, of which exports grew by 8.5 percent to EUR 30.034 billion, while imports increased by 9.5 percent, amounting to EUR 35.632 billion.

Romania’s negative trade balance with EU partners rose by 14.9 percent in the first nine months of 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, from –EUR 4.871 billion from – EUR 5.598 billion, the ministry informs.

From outside the EU, it was recorded a slightly decreasing evolution due to weaker exports.

Total extra-community trade amounted to EUR 21690.3 million, by 2.3 percent less than in the first nine months of 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, of which exports were EUR 10,879.7 million (-4.5 percent), and imports EUR 10,810.6 million (-0.1 percent).

In January-September 2015 period, the top ten countries of destination for Romanian exports were Germany (with a share of total Romanian exports of 19.9 percent), Italy (12.4 percent), France (6.7 percent), Hungary (5.4 percent), UK (4.3 percent), Turkey (4.1 percent), Bulgaria (3.4 percent), Spain (2.8 percent), Poland (2.7 percent) and Austria (2.5 percent), cumulative share of these countries being of 64.1 percent in total exports.
