Romania’s Softronic leases two locomotives to Deutsche Bahn Cargo

UniCredit Leasing Fleet Management, part of UniCredit Leasing, inks a partnership with Softronic-Softrans Craiova Group, the only local locomotive manufacturer, leasing two TransMontana locomotives, a press release informs.

These will be operated on Romanian routes for freight transport by the European rail transport market leader, Deutsche Bahn Cargo. Its plans also include the extension of their use on regional routes to Hungary, Austria and Slovakia.

UniCredit Leasing Group is at its third leasing of rolling stock for this client. The previous targeted the financial leasing funding of two locomotives produced by Softronic group in 2012 and 2014.

TransMontanas are the most advanced electric locomotives built in eastern Europe, have a total power of 6,000 kW each, use alternating current, and capable of providing speeds of up to 200 km/h.

The first of this type was manufactured in 2010. The locomotive uses new developments adapted to new requirements: a new body, special asynchronous traction motors, regenerative braking, electronic power converters with IGBT, unit converter, electronic equipment for command and control, LED lights and many others.

The operational duration guaranteed by the manufacturer is 3 years and a life span of 40 years.
