In the first nine months of the year, exports totaled 69.285 billion euros, while CIF imports reached 92.770 billion euros. During this period, exports decreased by 1.4%, and imports increased by 2.3% compared to the same period in 2023. The trade balance deficit (FOB/CIF) between January 1 and September 30, 2024, was 23.485 billion euros, 3.066 billion euros higher (+15.0%) than in the first nine months of 2023.
Between January 1 and September 30, 2024, key product categories in the structure of exports and imports were machinery and transport equipment (46.9% of exports and 36.4% of imports) and other manufactured goods (28.9% of exports and 28.7% of imports).
The value of intra-EU27 trade in goods for January 1–September 30, 2024, was 50.0577 billion euros for dispatches and 67.1475 billion euros for arrivals, representing 72.2% of total exports and 72.4% of total imports. The value of extra-EU27 trade in goods over the same period was 19.2274 billion euros for exports and 25.6234 billion euros for imports, representing 27.8% of total exports and 27.6% of total imports.
