Rompetrol Downstream, the retail company of KMG International, has inaugurated on 128A Sos. Chitila in Bucharest its first gas station equipped with power charging units for green cars, capital.ro informs.
Thanks to the new technology, drivers can charge 80 percent of the battery for free in just 20 minutes, compared to 7-8 hours, the time required for regular loading.
This is the first station of its kind, and the company will open another 7 such stations by the end of the year.
“Although the Romanian electric car market is at an early stage, we can not ignore the international concern regarding the diversification of energy sources and we try to implement new technologies in order to develop our product range and services as well as to meet the customers’ needs, while taking care of the environment,” Vlad Rusnac, General Manager Rompetrol Downstream stated.
Power supply to the electrical charging stations is carried out through alternating and direct current of 22 kW, thus being compatible with any type of vehicle sold in Europe and Asia.
According to APIA, at end-December 2016, 1183 electric and hybrid cars were sold in Romania compared to 496 vehicles in 2015.
