Almost 40% of rural residents intend to move to the urban environment in the next year to be closer to the workplace and to benefit from more educational opportunities and medical services, according to a recent study in Romania. On the other hand, many of the urban residents (35%) declare that they would not move to the countryside.

“Following our study, we observe that rural residents want to move to the urban environment in order to have access to various facilities, such as educational opportunities, quality medical services and varied leisure options. In contrast, a large proportion of those currently living in urban areas do not intend to move to the countryside. However, among those who wish to make this change, many choose retirement as the ideal time to relocate. Regarding the preferred rural areas, the majority would choose to move near big cities, followed by mountainous areas and, finally, in traditional villages, far from the crowd”, said Monica Dudău, Senior Marketing Manager Storia & OLX Imobiliare.
