The Senate adopted Tuesday the MTPL (RCA) law proposal and after two weeks is going to get the Chamber of Deputies’ vote.

The entry on the MTPL market of a state-controlled insurer and the introduction of a reference price half-yearly calculated by Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) are the main amendments of the law.

The law also provides the limiting insurers’ logistics costs to a maximum of 25 percent of the premium value, but also taking into account the damage history of the driver in the transport companies situation. These amendments were requested by transporters associations.

The law’s initiators expect the legislative proposal to be promulgated by year-end.

On the other hand, liberal senators have demanded the resignation of ASF President, Misu Negritoiu for how he handles the insurance crisis, News.ro notes.

The employers’ associations – UNTRR, APTE 2002, FORT, ARTRI, APULUM – ask the government to issue an emergency ordinance in order to freeze the MTPL tariffs at the average level of the Milliman report.

On September 15, 2016, the road transporters will organize a national protest against the motor third party liability insurance tariffs.
