Romania has invited Serbia to take part in the energy project AGRI, the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector, which should transport gas from Azerbaijan to Europe.

“The project AGRI is one of the interesting ones in which Serbia can participate,” Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic told reporters after meeting his Romanian counterpart Andrei Dominic Gerea, according to tanjug.rs. However, Serbia and Romania would consider the construction of a gas interconnection between the two countries, Antic notes.

AGRI should transport 5-10 billion cubic meters of gas on an annual level. A feasibility study for the project is being prepared, and Serbia has been invited to take part in a meeting with participating countries, including Georgia, Azerbaijan, Romania and Hungary, in September or October.

“We would like it to be a two-way gas pipeline, with the annual capacity of at least one billion cubic meters, and the costs of the project will be known when technical details are set out,” Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy underlined.
