11 years away from the previous edition, held in 2007, SIAB – Bucharest International Motor Show, the most important automobile event organized in Romania, reveals its ’beauties’ during March 23 – April 1, at the Romexpo Exhibition Center.

On this occasion, President Klaus Iohannis sent a message on Friday in which he states that Romania has competitive advantages in the automotive industry, showing that these strengths need to be sustained and supported at the level of the authorities through appropriate economic policies. The head of state expresses hope that SIAB will quickly return as a landmark in the profile events calendar.

“It is a good time in which the Romanian automotive industry marks some of the most notable achievements in its history. In the last decade, the Romanian automotive industry has almost tripled its performance, from about EUR 8 billion in 2009 to almost EUR 24 billion by the end of last year. With the achievements of Dacia-Renault and Ford, Romania has taken solid steps towards its consolidation on the European and international car scene,” Iohannis said in the message.

SIAB is recognized by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) and listed in its official “Calendar of Auto Shows”.

This year’s edition is organized by Romexpo in co-operation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) and in partnership with the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).

SIAB aims to remain an emblematic event of the Romanian automotive industry, waiting its visitors in Romexpo’s new exhibition spaces – Halls B1, B2 and B3 – which benefit from international level facilities, covering a total area of 27,000 square meters.

Manufacturers and car dealers bring to the stands three major European premieres: the new Volkswagen Touareg (simultaneous with the world premiere in Beijing), the MINI Hatch (facelift) and the MINI Cabriolet (facelift).

There will also be 16 national awards, including the Audi A6, the Audi RS4, the new BMW X2, the new BMW X4 (just two weeks after the world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show), the new BMW M5 Ford Fiesta Active, Ford Fiesta ST, Ford Transit Custom, Mazda6 Combi (as of March 25), Skoda Fabia (facelift), Suzuki Swift Sport, Toyota Mirai, New Volvo V60 and New Rolls-Royce Phantom.

On Concept or Prototype cars segment, Romanians can admire at Romexpo Audi e-tron quattro, Volkswagen Golf GTE Sport and Volkswagen I.D. Buzz.

Neither the two-wheeled vehicles have been forgotten, so adrenaline lovers can admire BMW K 1600 Grand America, Honda CRF 1000 L and Honda CRF 1000 L Adventure Sports brought in national premiere.

The biggest absences of this year’s edition of SIAB are Dacia Renault and Tiriac Automobile.
