Skanska inaugurates the first rooftop running track in Romania

Skanska, the largest developer of office buildings in Europe, inaugurates the first rooftop runway in Romania. The runway is 280 meters long and it’s located on the roof of the Campus 6.2 and 6.3 buildings in Bucharest.

The running track stretches across the roof of Campus 6.2 and 6.3 buildings, measuring 280 meters and offering its users a full 360-degree view over the city of Bucharest. The two A-class office buildings in Campus 6 have 11 stories, the track being located on top of them, at a height of about 42 meters, where employees can go for a run outdoors, while enjoying a panoramic view over the entire city. The final layer of the track is made out of tartan certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations for use in all international athletic competitions.

Employees working in these two buildings can now enjoy outdoor exercise right from their office or relax in the specially arranged terrace seating next to the track, which is also equipped with a tennis table.

Skanska buildings encourage a culture of health and well-being, all expressed through a variety of innovative elements – such as the runway on the roof of Campus 6.2 and 6.3, the first rooftop runway located on top of an office building”, says Raoul Mihalca, Project Manager within the construction division of Skanska CEE in Romania.

However, the rooftop runway on Campus 6 in Bucharest is not the first of its kind built by Skanska. Among the capitals in the Central and Eastern European region where Skanska has integrated this type of employee facility are Budapest, where the track is to be completed with the delivery of the H2Office building and Prague, where the 150-meter runway on the roof of the building Visionary was launched in 2018.

“We are happy to be finally able to talk about another innovative feature that highlights the two buildings on Campus 6 – the rooftop running track. The completion of the running track lasted 4 weeks and 13 tons of tartan were used in its construction. Although it is a recreational track, the high-quality material used for the surface of the track is certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations” adds Igor Hristenco, Project Manager within the construction division of Skanska CEE in Romania.
