Sodexo Romania has concluded the full takeover of the 7card shares, within a transaction started in 2016 by the purchase of 20pc of the company. In 2017, Sodexo bought another 40pc of the shares of 7card.
Through the concluded transaction announced today, Sodexo becomes the largest provider of corporate passed for sports, wellness and leisure activities in Romania.
Benefit Seven, reporting a turnover of EUR 7 M, was set up by Andrei Crețu, Iulian Cîrciumaru and Cătălin Ivașcu in 2011, thus introducing a unique concept in Romania, a single pass to more sport and wellness centres. At present, 7card comprises a network of over 650 sports centres.
The 7card co-founders sold their shares, but they will remain in the company’s management.
“The transaction allows us to provide companies in Romania with growing support in their programmes to secure employee loyalty. By integrating 7card in our services (…) Sodexo Romania is diversifying its offer to improve quality of life of the employees and the performance of the companies”, said Sven Marinus, CEO Sodexo Benefits & Rewards Services Romania.
“We remain within 7card to develop our brand next to Sodexo. We are happy to see how much we have grown in 7 years, reaching over 40,000 active subscribers. We like to think that we convinced employees that sports is good and, at the same time, that we convinced companies that an employee who enjoys benefits has a higher share of retention,” said in his turn 7card co-founder Andrei Crețu.
According to an internal survey, users of the 7card sports center network scored 1,863,000 motion hours last year, meaning 213 years, and burnt one billion calories.
