Taco Bell, the largest fast-food restaurant chain serving Mexican food in the world, revealed when it would open its first unit in Romania. It announced on its Facebook page that the first restaurant in our country would be opened at Băneasa Shopping City in Bucharest on October 12. Taco Bell has posted that the nearest Taco Bell restaurant is 1,208 km away from Romania, namely in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Shera Franchise Group S.A. announced Taco Bell’s entry on the Romanian market this autumn in a previous press release. Sphera Franchise Group is owned by three Romanian businessmen who already control the franchises of KFC and Pizza Hut.

The South-Californian brand is part of the Yum! Brands Inc. portfolio and is the world’s leading ‘quick service restaurants’ (QSR) network, offering Mexican inspired products.

The restaurant will be inaugurated in Bucharest, within the Băneasa Shopping City, one of the main shopping centres in the capital city.

Taco Bell is an inventor of urban tastes, and its menu offers a variety of delicious, Mexican products such as the famous Crunchy Tacos, burrito, quesadilla, nachos and Crunchwrap, the release reads.

On July 19, ‘Romania Journal’ informed that Taco Bell plans to open thousands of new stores worldwide, including in Romania. Yum! Brands Inc.’s Mexican-themed restaurant chain announced it will open at least 100 new locations each in China, Brazil, Canada and India during the next five years. The plan aimed to boost Taco Bell’s store count to 9,000 globally by 2022 from 6,650 now. Other new markets include Peru, Romania, Finland and Sri Lanka, Melissa Lora, president of Taco Bell International, said.
