Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) is in talks with Air China and China Southern Airlines on the possibility of operating direct flights between Bucharest and Beijing or Shanghai, Valentin Iordache, Foreign Affairs Director and spokesman of CNAB said, after attending a conference in Georgia, gandul.info reports.

In addition, there were negotiations with the Russian company Aeroflot, which already operates the Bucharest-Moscow flight and wants to add Bucharest – St. Petersburg.

CNAB official said he held talks with the largest Ukrainian company, Ukraine International Airlines, for Kiev-Bucharest route.

Also, trying to convince the airlines companies from the Far East and especially those from United States to operate for a longer period on Otopeni Airport, CNAB representatives have prepared special offers to these operators. There will be big discounts in the early years of the contract, Iordache said, on the condition that the company’s partners to assume that direct flights will operate for at least five years.

Referring to a possible Bucharest-New York flight, there are negotiations for long time already and the next meetings with US airlines will be held in late September in South Africa at Durban. Iordache points out that in the very near future he sees no possible direct flight Bucharest-New York, unless TAROM will reopen this transcontinental route.
