Taxify, one of the biggest taxi apps in Europe, with over 500 thousand customers in 10 countries, is ready to enter Romanian market, antena3. ro informs, quoting economica.net.
Estonian startup promises to help the taxi drivers to compete with the controversial application for smartphone Uber.
The company operates a platform through which users can call a taxi or a private driver and choose between paying cash or by card online. Taxify cooperate both with local taxi firms and private drivers (ridesharing) following Uber model.
Taxify’s operations in Romania are based in Cluj-Napoca and as of this year has started operating in Floreşti, Cluj County, in partnership with local Taxi Speed Floreşti.
Company representatives did not want to provide details on the launch schedule in Bucharest.
Currently 80 percent of Taxify drivers are taxis and 20 percent are private drivers.
Taxify was launched in 2013 and is headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. Riders can book taxis either via its iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone app or its website.
Since its founding, Taxify has raised over EUR 1.5 million in investments from various investors including Skype, Pipedrive, Adcash, Rubylight and TMT Investment.
Last year, Taxify was the first transportation app in the world which allows customers to pay for their trip via mobile carrier billing.
