Telekom Romania’s revenues, down by 1.3 pc in 2017

Telekom Romania’s revenues dropped by 1.3 percent last year to EUR 972 million following the decrease in the number of customers of Telekom Romania Mobile Communications, according to the report published by Deutsche Telekom, the indirect shareholder of the group.

At group level, adjusted EBITDA was EUR 166 million last year, down 5.1 percent from the previous year.

However, Telekom Romania Communications’ net revenues were 3.9 percent down in Q4 2017 from the prior-year level, to EUR 160.3 million, primarily impacted by the fixed voice revenues downward trend, according to the key performance indicators in Q4 of 2017, as reported by OTE Group.

For entire year, the revenues slightly increased by 0.9 percent to EUR 607.7 million. Adjusted EBITDA in Q4 went down by 7.8 percent to EUR 26.1 million, but had an overall upward trend for entire year 2017, reaching EUR 101.9 million, up by 9 percent year-on-year.

In Q4 2017, the number of subscribers for convergent bundles continued to increase, by 36 percent, surpassing the threshold of 500,000. Also, the total number of TV subscribers increased slightly (+0.4 percent) to 1.470 million, while the number of broadband subscribers reached 1.180 million. Compared to Q4 in 2016, fixed voice revenues continued their downward trend (-15 percent); broadband revenues were down (-4.8 percent) and also TV (-1.9 percent).

In Q4 2017, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications registered total revenues of EUR 139.5 million, up 14.4 percent against the same period of last year, largely due to higher postpaid revenues and higher revenues from merchandise sold.

Service revenues increased by 13.1 percent, to EUR 83.5 million. Telekom Romania Mobile’s customer base totaled 4.7 million, down 11.1 percent from the year-earlier level, mainly due to elimination of inactive prepaid cards. Of this total, 34.5 percent was postpaid. In Q4 2017, adjusted EBITDA decreased by 16.9 percent compared to the year-earlier period, to EUR 14.7 million.
