The event organized by eJobs Romania and the Swiss-Romanian Chamber of Commerce (CCE-R) at STUP by Banca Transilvania highlighted the most important trends shaping the labor market this year and in the near future. The HR Review 2024 & Trends 2025 study, conducted by eJobs Romania, provided a detailed insight into how employers and employees are adapting to current economic and technological challenges.

Key takeaways from the event:

  • Gen Z dominates the job market, making up one-third of new candidates in 2024. With 120,000 new accounts created on eJobs and 2.8 million applications submitted, young professionals are becoming a major force in recruitment.
  • AI is changing the game – By 2035, an estimated 30% of jobs will be automated, while Romania lags behind other countries in adopting new technologies at an organizational level.
  • The labor market remains dynamic despite economic uncertainty. In 2024, 292,000 job postings were made on eJobs, and in the first two months of 2025 alone, employers have already posted 35,000 new opportunities.
  • Remote jobs are becoming exceptions, while employers increasingly emphasize salary transparency, with more job listings now including salary details.
  • IT and entry-level positions are no longer the most sought-after by employers. Instead, sectors such as retail, services, food industry, and call center/BPO lead both in job offers and applications.

Bogdan Badea, CEO of eJobs Romania, on labor market trends:

“2025 is still a year of uncertainty, as we’ve known since 2020—nothing is certain, and everything can change. The year started with 35,000 new job postings and 1.5 million applications, along with a 20% increase in new accounts on our platform. This shows that the job market remains highly active, especially for job seekers. The first two months of the year clearly indicate that some long-standing myths are fading. For example, junior and IT candidates are no longer the most in-demand by employers. Remote work is also shifting towards being an exception rather than the norm. A key change in 2025 is the increasing percentage of job postings that display salary information, signaling that employers are taking steps toward greater salary transparency in Romania.”

What’s next?

In an ever-evolving labor market, 73% of employers consider continuous employee development essential, while over 60% of employees will require training or reskilling by 2027. More and more companies are investing in upskilling and reskilling programs to remain competitive in a work environment where flexibility and adaptability are crucial.
