The population of Romania, in general, is digitally illiterate, but we have the best internet in Europe, Communications Minister Augustin Jianu has said during a conference on Tuesday.
“Although we know very well that we have among the highest speed broadband internet access in Europe and perhaps the world, certainly better than the Americans, the penetration rate is very low. Although we have many good experts in IT and communications their number is quite small relative to the population in general. The population of Romania is currently digitally illiterate. In order to carry on transformation, we need to address literacy,” Jianu said.
According to the minister, digital literacy should be performed primarily with teachers and the parents. He added that the Ministry of Communications envisages a project together with the Ministry of Education.
