TikTok is hiring in Romania

The Chinese network TikTok, one of the most influential digital platforms of the moment, has launched a job advertisement for the position of Manager for Government Relations and Public Policies in Romania. The position is full-time, mid-senior level and involves hybrid work, with a particular focus on relations with authorities and the development of political influence strategies in Romania, Hungary and the Balkan countries, according to the advertisement published on LinkedIn.

The new manager will be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with political and legislative decision-makers, in a climate increasingly marked by tensions between regulators and large digital platforms. Recently, the TikTok platform was fined over 500 million euros for illegally sending EU user data to China.

The role involves: monitoring and analyzing relevant legislation; supporting TikTok’s positions before the authorities; collaborating with the legal, communication and internal policy teams; managing legislative and regulatory risks at the regional level.

TikTok is looking for someone with a degree in political science, international relations, or a related field and solid experience in public policy or government relations in Romania, Hungary, or the Balkans. Knowledge of internet regulation, experience in political campaigns, and the ability to translate complex legislative topics into clear and persuasive messages are also valued. The search for this new position comes at a key time for TikTok, which is facing increasing regulatory pressure in Europe and the US.
