Topoloveni plum jam (Magiunul de Topoloveni), the first Romanian product registered in the EU system protecting geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs will be presented at Middle East Natural & Organic Product Expo 2014 (MENOPE) which will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on November 25-27. This event is considered to be the largest exhibition dedicated to natural and organic food industry.

We hope that this recognition to guarantee the high quality of the Topoloveni plum jam on Arabic market, ” Bibiana Stanciulov, CEO Sonimpex Topoloveni said, according to a press release.
Topoloveni plum jam is participating at MENOPE 2014 as part of the EU funding program ‘I love European Fine Foods’, which was accessed by Sonimpex Topoloveni because its product has the European recognition of authenticity.
“By participating in Dubai, Topoloveni plum jam concludes an important year in terms of international events that represented Romania, attending exhibitions in Seoul, Moscow, Oslo, Zurich, Berlin and Montenegro ,” the release also shows.
Topoloveni plum jam holds the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) on a European level since April 8, 2011, this being the first distinction of the kind received by a Romanian traditional product. Topoloveni natural plum jam is made after a recipe kept since 1914.
Sonimpex company is the only Romanian producer in the area of fruit processing and preserving without added sugar, without additives and preservation agents, having in its portfolio, besides the Topoloveni plum jam, a range of about 10 jams without added sugar and preservers, but also an eggplant mixture and a tomato paste.
In order to preserve the nutritional qualities of the fresh fruits and vegetables, the Topoloveni products are manufactured using the bain-marie system, in double walled kettles, through which it runs technological steam (indirect heat).
125 companies from more than 25 countries will cater to the 5,000 visitors expected to attend in the next two days at MENOPE which become a leading platform for global and regional companies to enter the Middle East market.
According to a Euro monitor study, the Middle East and North Africa market for organic products alone would be USD 120 million by 2017.
