The air traffic on the two airports in Bucharest – Henri Coanda International Airport (Otopeni) and Aurel Vlaicu International Airport (Baneasa) increased by 15.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year to a record 1.8 million passengers, Bucharest National Airport Company (CNAB) data show on Monday
Moreover, the Bucharest National Airport Company recorded a total of 23,961 aircraft movements (landings or takeoffs) in Q1, on the two airports.
Overall, the Henri Coanda Airport recorded 1,808,332 passengers and 19,441 aircraft movements.
Bucharest’s airports also saw an increase in the number of aircraft movements, a sector in which they also exceeded the European trend. Thus, in January-March, the number of aircraft movements (landings or takeoffs) on the Bucharest airports increased by 12.6 per cent compared with the same interval of last year.
In 2014, the two airports in Bucharest were transited by 8,32 million passengers, with the total number of aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs) standing at 102,048.
There are 31 airlines currently operating on the Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, carrying passengers to 70 destinations.
