National Power Grid Company Transelectrica has inaugurated the 400 kV power line of interconnection between Resita (Romania) and Pancevo (Serbia), an investment of RON 81.5 million, a press release informs.

The company points out the investment is made entirely by Romanian companies, from the designer to the contractor and the consultant.

The 400 kV Resita-Pancevo is a project of common interest at European level which allows also the elimination of major congestions in the Romanian and Serbian power systems as well as the increase of the transfer capacity between two countries and across the South-Eastern Europe.

Through this investment, Romania will reach the mandatory EU target of 10 percent interconnectivity for 2020, Transelectrica officials say.

The section of the Trans-Balkans Corridor for the transfer of electrical energy from Pancevo to Resita, 68 kilometers long, was put into operation at Elektromreza Srbije (EMS) in Belgrade on December 21, last year. The power lines stretch from Resita to Pancevo, Obrenovac and Bajina Basta, then to Pljevlja, Montenegro, and Lastva, B&H, and then go beneath the sea to Villanova, Italy.

The electric line has a length of 63 kilometers in Romania.
