TIAD: Turkish businessmen to invest USD 200 M in the next two years on the domestic market
Turkey’s National Day is celebrated worldwide by Turkish communities on October 29. This year marks 91 years since the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey.
Turkish businessmen, who have been in Romania since 1989 and are familiar with the Romanian business environment, constitute the most important asset in further developing Turkish-Romanian economic relations. Turkey is among the largest investor in Romania.
In the last 20 years, the Turkish companies have invested in Romania over USD 5 billion, according to Turkish Businessmen Association (TIAD) data. “In the context of continued growth of Turkish capital investments in Romania, businessmen estimate the allocation of more than USD 200 million over the next two years in the Romanian companies and projects” TIAD also said in a press release.
Economic and commercial relations constitute an important aspect of the bilateral cooperation. Turkey is Romania’s largest trading partner in the Balkans. Bilateral trade volume between the two countries was EUR 4,7 billion and EUR 4,3 billion in 2011 and 2012, respectively, according to mfa.gov.tr. More than 6.000 Turkish companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large scale businesses, are actively operating in Romania in trade, manufacture and service sectors. Food production, agriculture, construction, media, education, internet and health industries are among the wide range of sectors where Turkish businessmen are investing.
TIAD’s traditional Business Gala
On the occasion of this celebration, so important for the Turkish communities and not only, TIAD will mark this event by organizing a dedicated Gala to Turkish investors in Romania on October 31. Praktiker, Garanti Bank, Credit Europe Bank, Turkish Airlines si Kastamonu Romania are among the prominent guests.
“We are proud of our home country and we believe that such an event must be marked in the most elegant way possible. For us, the Turkish Businessmen Association, this means organizing a gala dedicated to our countrymen who have distinguished themselves in the Romanian business environment. At the same time, this is a perfect opportunity to discuss with our partners about investments in the coming years,” Aykut Akbulut President of TIAD said.
